My Top Five: Why I Love Music Festivals

IMG_2676.JPG (2)I have a new life goal: To attend one music festival from now on, every year until I meet my maker. Done. That’s it. Goal set, future life complete. I seriously never realized the happiness encouraging, escapism inducing, sole satisfying completion that music festivals generate and I will never miss out again…

I recently attended Squamish Music Festival- As if you couldn’t tell I was recently at one! It was absolutely incredible. There’s truly nothing I love more than music festivals I have realized. And I’ve only been to two! That’s the sheer madness of my newfound passionate love for them! I also love the fact that the two I went to were basically polar opposites- pretty much the biggest music festival in the world- Glastonbury- and a reasonably small sized one- Squamish- in British Columbia. Different bands, different atmospheres, and vastly different weather! ( no gumboots at Squamish thank you very much!)

I had possibly one of the best weekends of this entire year so far and I am literally holding my breath until I get to experience my next music festival.

Here are my top five reasons why I love music festivals THIS much:

1.) THE BEST BANDS ALL IN ONE PLACE

Where else can you literally see five of your favourite bands all in the space of a couple hours!? Granted music festivals tend to be a tad pricey but imagine how much you would be paying if you were to see each of those artists/bands individually…

2.) THE MUSIC FESTIVAL COMMUNITY

Party with people from all walks of life. From hippies to hipsters simply enjoy the company of the uber friendly and positive people surrounding you. I find the people who attend music festivals to be generally very open minded and interesting and I love chatting to them!

3.) YOU CAN GET A LITTLE CRAZY

Hopefully not too crazy but you can definitely get a little wild- with no judgement! That’s another wonderful thing about the festivals- no one is judging you. Dance your ass off, climb a tree, dress absurdly- you fill undoubtedly fit in with the accepting crowd.

4) YOU GET TO BE ONE WITH NATURE

Hopefully rain excluded! Though that is rather hard when you are in the UK…Camping though, wherever you do it, is super fun and completely rounds out the experience in my opinion. Nestle in among the thousands of other tents….ok so maybe you are not really getting to be ‘one’ as opposed to ‘thousands’ with nature but hey- its just a crash pad anyway right?

5.) THE STUNNING SCENERY

Granted, Not all Music Festival Locations are as beautiful as the Mountaneous Squamish Region in the aptly named beautiful British Columbia, but hey- more often than not they are set in beautiful locations. Whether is mountains, beaches, deserts, or gorges, take a moment to appreciate your surroundings and the fact that you would probably never have come here if it weren’t for this reason!

Here is my list of my TOP TEN Music Festivals to attend in the future:
