And the list of amazing things to do in/around Vancouver continues! This week’s post is all about the many amazing activities to partake in that are within two hours of Vancouver. From hiking to ferrying have a read over the list below and I guarantee you will have a fun filled day- or many…
1.) THE GROUSE GRIND
Climb the grind, step by step, and be rewarded at the top with stunning views over all of Vancouver, Enjoy a nice cold beer or delicious lunch, and a spectacular Gondola Ride down! The challenge is worth it- trust me.
2.) RICHMOND NIGHT MARKET
Vancouver’s Largest Asian Night Market- Shop here for trinkets, scarves or gadgets or simply indulge in some scrumptious noodles.
3.) THE CHIEF
A somewhat milder, although still challenging hike. A favourite among Vancouverites and a beautiful photo spot on top.
4.) CAMPING
Alice Lake, Golden Ears, Squamish, Cultus Lake- the choices are endless and most quite close. Pack up a tent, a flashlight and marshmallows and and you are all set. The scenery in BC is stunning and the weather (hopefully) sunny!
5.) VANCOUVER ISLAND
Victoria, Tofino, Nanaimo…Vancouver island has some extremely picturesque spots, made all the better by the extremely picturesque ferry journey to get there! Victoria, my alma mater, holds a special place in my heart, and boasts an array of super fun things to do- from whale watching, shopping, hiking or brunching take the chance to visit B.C.’s quaint capital.
6.) SQUAMISH MUSIC FESTIVAL
One of the biggest music festivals in British Columbia and one which draws some big names. I’ve already got my tickets for this year and I could not be more excited! Bring your tent and your tank tops and prepare to have a memorable (if not exhausting and slightly smelly) three days.
7.) WHISTLER
Great for both sunshine and snow, Head to whistler in any season and take in the breathtaking mountainous scenery. Take a stroll in the village, ride the peak to peak Gondola, mountain bike in summer or ski/snowboard in winter- Whistler is a must see destination (and possible to do in a day) for anyone travelling to Vancouver.
8.) STEVESTON
The Steveston Fish Market is a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Browse the ships docked and buy some fresh seafood or simply grab fish and chips in one of the restaurants by the harbour. Steveston is also very family friendly, with one of best playgrounds around!
9.) CAPILANO SUSPENSION BRIDGE
A scary feat for some, Capilano Suspension Bridge is a perfect place for those adrenaline junkies. Walk across the swaying, rickety bridge (it’s super safe though I swear), take some photos, tremble with fear, and proudly say you have walked across the depth defying gorge.
10.) LIGHTHOUSE PARK
Yet another hiking spot in Vancouver but I couldn’t resist! Certainly a more relaxed stroll is in order at Lighthouse Park, and is a fun spot for a picnic, a family get together, or a romantic afternoon. Snap some great photos of the lighthouse and enjoy the wilderness.
